Description

Nests - Voids are asexual at birth, but are primarily male as they get older. Gender is not a factor when voids breed, because the eggs can take host in any part of the body in order to hatch, usually taking comfort within the stomach. The paternal void builds a web-like nest of a hardened black sludge that could hold more than a dozen hosts, hatching hundreds of pups each. As the eggs closer to hatching, pores open on the surface of the skin in a honey-comb shaped pattern. These are primarily how the newborn pups emerge, however, a few may stray and exit out additional orifices if the pores grow too crowded. If the host is another void, they are able to survive and heal quickly despite the painful birthing process. If for some reason a void wants to mate with another species, the chances of the host surviving are slim to none.

Void Pups - When the hatchlings are born, the pups are reminiscent of prehistoric crustaceans like the trilobite. They are distinguished by the smokey particle affect they give off like the adults and the occasional trails of sludge they leave behind. The pup's heart can be seen through an orb pocket on the top of their bodies. The color it glows determines the health of the pup. No more than five pups tend to survive since they are easy prey for the Unmasked. This is why they are born in clutches of over a hundred.
